Centor signs the Mental Health ‘Time to Change’ Employer Pledge

Mental ill health is the leading cause of sickness absence in the UK, costing an average of £1,035 per employee, per year.

This is one of the reasons Centor Insurance & Risk Management has signed the ‘Time to Change’ Employer Pledge.

The pledge was signed by Centor CEO Neil Walton on Friday 18th May to mark the end of Mental Health Awareness Week.

By signing, we have joined a growing movement of over 700 companies in England, all of whom are demonstrating their commitment to changing how we think and act about mental health in the workplace.

The pledge requires a commitment to looking after the mental health of your employees in order to remove the stigma of mental health, reduce sickness absence rates and improve staff wellbeing and productivity.

We have also elected two ‘Mental Health Champions’ in the office, to whom the team can speak with if they are sad or struggling. These champions will attend mental health first aid training and will work with employees to help make it easier for people to seek support.

Neil Walton says signing the pledge is an important step.

‘We want to do all we can to support all staff, but especially those experiencing mental ill health. We already do a lot to try and encourage them to be physically healthy – now we want to provide them with the resources to be mentally healthy.’
