Are Loss Adjusters independent?

Print E-mail

Fire DamagePeople are often concerned that Loss Adjusters are only acting in the interests of the insurers because the insurers pay the fees, so are they really independent?

The answer is that Loss Adjusters act under a Royal Charter which requires them to act impartially. The principle of utmost good faith underpins the insurance industry and it is the Loss Adjusters job to ensure that claims are

paid in accordance with the terms and conditions of the particular policy in force, for the benefit of both parties to the contract (the insurer and the insured).
