Neil Walton speaking about winning the UK Best Small Workplace Award The Great Small Workplaces Award is for businesses with less than 75 employees across any industry. Following the announcement the UK Best Workplace Special Report will be carried by the Financial Times, the Guardian and British Airways ‘Business Life’ Magazine. The Great Place to Work Institute is a global research and management consultancy with operations in 44 countries and strong expertise in workplace transformation. Their mission is to improve society by creating better workplaces. The global Best Workplaces Programme is the world’s largest people excellence programme, with over 3,800 organisations and 1.5 million employees taking place across the globe. A great place to work is where the employees “Trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people they work with”. Two thirds of the score which determines a place in the list comes from an anonymous survey of the workforce, ensuring that success is based firmly on the voice of employees. The remaining score element comes from the Culture Audit, which is an analysis of the value system, policies and practices that support organisational culture. “Having achieved such great business success over a relatively short period of time, it has been extremely important for us to ensure that our focus remains on what drives our business forward – our people. They need to be informed and inspired, have a great sense of loyalty to the company and their clients, understand how their role fits within our entire business mix, and know the importance of doing their job well. “ “Being shortlisted in the Top 10 was a fantastic achievement but to actually win is something that will take some time to sink in. This success is something all of our team should be immensely proud of, as they have been instrumental in making this company what it is.” Neil Walton, CEO
