David Jacobsen recently completed a tandem skydive to raise money for the children’s charity Action for Children.
Having spent time over the summer raising sponsorship David was suddenly faced with the exciting prospect of completing his jump. On a warm June day David went to Hinton Airfield in Northamptonshire to begin preparing.
After prefight training for instructor Geoff Wood, David was given his windproof suit and headed for the plane. On the day there were 8 others on the flight to make their jumps. After 15 minutes the plane reached its jump altitude of 13,000 feet.
From high above the clouds David and Geoff made their jump along with a specialist cameraman who was there record the jump. Once they had fallen to a height of 5,000 feet Geoff opened the main parachute and they headed for the airfield.
David and Geoff made a successful landing and David came away from the experience keen to recommend it. |

Centor were delighted recently to send a number of our team along to support The Tall Ships Youth Trust for a day’s sailing on a 60m brig ’Stavros S Niarchos’.
Departing from Southampton, the Centor staff joined the volunteer crew and young people that the charity so admirably helps on an action packed day of activities. During the day we climbed the masts, took the helm and set the sails.
It was a fantastic experience for all involved and gave us a tremendous insight into the excellent work this charity does to support young people from many varied backgrounds.
About the Tall Ships Youth Trust
The Tall Ships Youth Trust was founded in 1956 and is dedicated to the personal development of young people through the crewing of ocean going sailing vessels. It is the UK’s oldest and largest sail training charity for young people aged 12-25.
Over 95,000 trainees have sailed over 1.8 million nautical miles on the fleet of vessels operated by the Tall Ships Youth Trust. The total fleet includes a 60m brig, Stavros S Niarchos, four 22m ocean-going Challenger Yachts and a 19m Catamaran.
On average, 70% of the young people sailing with the Tall Ships Youth Trust are disadvantaged or disabled. |

Centor were delighted to visit BLESMA Headquarters on 21st September with a donation for £2,000 to this most worthy cause.
Paul Field of Centor met with BLESMA General Secretary Jerome Church (MBE) and his fundraising team to hand over their donation.
BLESMA support injured servicemen and women in many ways, from help dealing with their injuries and the rehabilitation process, including the use of artificial limbs, through to practical advice and assistance with dealing with War Pensions, Social Services and living arrangements. They also have several nursing and residential care homes for ex service personnel around the country.
Through shared support and experience with other members they also help the injured come to terms with their disabilities and via numerous sporting and social events which all help re-build confidence and build great friendship and camaraderie as part of the healing process.
For further information on the important work of BLESMA visit their website. |

The Centor Golf Team of Neil Walton, Richard McLeod, Tony Efreme and David Jacobsen recently took time out of their busy week to enter the RBLI charity golf tournament.
We were pleased to have the opportunity to support the vital work of the Royal British Legion Industries. The day was arranged to support the David’s Day initiative which supports children with disabilities and their carers.
On a rain soaked day at Broke Hill Golf Club the Centor team were able to take the honours by winning the tournament and Tony Efreme made the longest drive.
